Non licensed people pro & cons
And I refuse to sell a puppy to anyone falling into categories listed below .
To protect the industry professional breeders we must start standing our ground and put our foot down to people listed below who list only with a facebook page or craigs list.
As I have been a supporter of Iowa Pet breeding association & Missouri for many years I attend all meetings and get hours of education to learn how to be the best breeder I can possibly be.
It's not just putting two dogs together and making puppies a lot goes into it, time and money to do it right.
Embark testing PinnHip testing the list goes on and on.
Hours of work every day and night 7 days a week 365 days a year its 100% dedication to my job.
Pro's there is nothing good about a person that's hiding from state and usda and not being inspected and not having rules to follow just doing as they want when they want and how they want .
And this is not just me venting these are facts.
1) No vet care ( super important) for puppies and moms and dads
2) No testing ( so many different genetic tests that can be tested for) and prevents so many health problems with a simple test that's not that expensive to do.
3) No inspections ( Making sure your doing thing correct and they are here to help with any questions you might have) and better yourself as a breeder.
4) No shots (#1 killer in puppies is worms and parvo) And dogs who don't get proper vet care before breeding will not have healthy puppies (Fact).
5) No Deworming ( Puppies need dewormed starting at 2 weeks of age) clear up to the day they leave.
6) No Microchip ( What is the purpose of a microchip? safety of your pet if ever get lost and it's called putting back into your program, and the welfare of your puppy for it's whole life.
7) No Linage ( where did your puppy come from? ) Do you not want to know? I would if I was spending that much money!
8) No Guarantee (so important to have a guarantee) so if something goes wrong! I have one for a insurance for me and my customers.
9) This list goes on and on
10) Charging a lot of money for what? One big heartbreak and it will be I guarantee it.
20 years of breeding I have seen this industry go downhill fast everyone wanting to breed dogs.
All they are doing is having someone raise a dog up to breed age and once that is done then they have the right to breed her/him for 4 to 5+ years or maybe longer while you have the dog in the home with you. So you fall in love with this dog and she dies having a c section. sucks to be you there goes your pet as she dies and them not wanting to spend the money to open her up and get those puppies out and not having the knowledge to understand what's going on! .
And a male dog who pee's all over your home because he's a active breeder (yuck)
And the purpose is to hide that dog from inspectors with no rules or regulations to follow.
But your getting a free dog? All they are doing is hiding from rules and laws.
And your helping and breaking the law too by helping these people out.
They are the worst of the worst they just put anything and everything together just to add some money to the piggy bank.
It's blonde and has looks like a golden retriever lets breed it to a dog that looks like a poodle and call it Goldendoodles.
She can have them outside on a chain ? She will be just fine ! 6 weeks comes around lets put them up for sale ,On facebook so many groups out there and we can have the kids hold them ! How cute is that !!! They don't need shots or deworming new family's can do it and we will just tell them the vet said they are to young first set of shots due at 10 weeks of age.(heard this one more then once under educated for sure!
This is how they do it and charge the big bucks? As you meet in Wal-Mart parking lot as soon as you pull out they are going shopping for a new 72 in tv set .
No genetics no testing no GUARANTEE but the big bucks you pay for the puppy and big bucks you pay for vet bills and more then likely parvo.
No education at all.
Commercial Breeding Yup we have them too those that are inspected and slip through the gap nothing more upsets me then those big breeders that have tons of dogs this breed and that breed selling to pet stores I don't have the time for them.
They are milling them out just for the money and they are nothing but bad news in my book.
So are pet stores.
But as breeders and they have that right as long as they are doing it right with USDA & State then I don't really have no right to complain because they are doing it right .
And not running around and avoiding inspectors and following the rule that are on the books for the welfare of animals.
Throughout my 21 years I have seen some pretty nice kennels and I think dang I want to live here and then I have seen some that will make your skin crawl.
Hobby breeding yup (nope) crock of poop they have sometimes more dogs then your big breeders and just hide them well or put them in a friends name or a parents name better yet there kids names yup I have seen that more then once .
Oh I'm selling for a friend or my mom yup (nope) running under the raider no vet checks not health guarantee no health testing of any kind! Can't have any paper trail of any kind and only will they take cash at all times.
And 99% of the times if they do shots they come from tractor supply or a farm and home.
They don't want a paper trail so they buy any shots for dogs even if its not recommended for puppies. I cant tell you how many times I have went to get puppies from a so called breeder and they will tell me they are current on shots and all they have had is a farm and home distemper shot? Where is the parvo shot? Oh that's all my vet did(well this is a brand from tractor supply) Oh we did those our self ? ok can I see a health certificate? Well no he didn't give me one ? Well has this puppy been vet checked ? Well no but are puppies are healthy? So you want 1500$ or more for a puppy with nothing and they will tell you AKC papers haven't came in yet! I turn and walk away as I've done many times! They want NO paper trail of any kind . Point made Now lets move on to show breeders, I can sure rant about them not all because I know a few and they are great but then you go into the not so great.
Show breeders are some of the worst I have ever seen( They will tell you I'm a show breeder so you get this vision in your head of these dogs going to these shows) All brushed out all looking pretty sharp. But once you see how the dogs are raised it will sicken you. I have seen it more then once.
And is pretty upsetting. When they run under the radar too show breeders don't have to be inspected because they are show! Well they put up a BIG show I'm telling you. I know a breeder friend that has bought a few dogs from show breeders and there dogs are the worst at biting and scared to death! They have not been handled they didn't make the cut so they just live in the kennel for months without being handled. Until they get tired of feeding them they will make it look like they have been in a show ring all brushed out looking pretty, But then you can see the yellow feet and and try to pick one up you better hold on tights it's like holding on to pure craziness, Scared to death that's a show dog my ass. And stink from high heaven.
Well now in-home breeder no such thing.
In Home breeding well that's just a place to hide more dogs that never get to go outside or see the real world. It's pretty much hording!! And you as a customer think oh my puppy is raised in the house with all the TLC nope in a cage until they go home, But of course they do pics with there kids playing with a group of puppies just to make it look good. Not true at all it's a hording case.
Most of the time puppies are super sick and are scared to death covered in fleas and full of worms .
pick up time you go to a Wal-Mart parking lot or at because they are not going to let you in there home no way.
Most of the time once again no vet care living in town have over the limit of dogs so they cant get shots done or vet care due to the laws and how many dogs they can have in the city limits.
And they hide from it rules and laws.
Now if you want a healthy happy puppy stay away from these unethical ones I cant call them breeders because they are not breeders.
I'm not putting this out to disrespect anyone I'm posting the truth and things I have seen in the past 21 years.
And if you get offended if your one of these type of people become leglet for the welfare of the industry because people like you tarnish the good breeding programs.
Laws are changing and I'm so happy to see this according my inspector.
